Hello, And Welcome To My First Post In Theologian Outlook. I Thought The Best Way To Start Is Probably The Most Shocking Of Them All, Ancient Demonology. Of Course, As You All Probably Know I Am Of A Christian Background. So, That Is Mostly The Perspective I Will Be Covering. But, Some Of These Ancient Demons Are Mentioned In Multiple Religions. So, Hopefully This Is Enjoyed By Someone.
Baʿal-zəvûv (בעל-זבוב) Baalzebub, Belzebud, Beezelbub, Beezlebub, Beazlebub, Belzaboul, Beelzeboul, Baalsebul, Baalzebubg, Belzebuth Beelzebuth, and Beelzebus.
When Jesus was performing miracles, the pharisees were shocked and astonished by these amazing miracles. So much so that they believed Jesus was possessed by a very powerful demon, that demon is Quoted As “The Prince Of Demons” [Mat 12:24]. Meaning, The Canaanite prince of demons Beelzebub.
when Jesus is doing such mind blowing and unbelievable miracles he ends up being accused of demonic possession. Who is this prince of demons? This creature must have some kind of power.
To add on, here are some other mentions of Beelzebub within the New Testament.
[Mar 3:22 KJV] “And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.”
[Luk 11:15 KJV] “But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.”

While Beelzebub is mentioned a few times in the New Testament, he is only mentioned once in the Old Testament.
[2Kings 1:1-2 KJV] 1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab. And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that [was] in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
The Old Testament mention brings up more discussion, why did Ahaziah call upon this one specific ‘god’ to cure his disease? Well, another name that describes this demon is בַּעַל זְבוּב (baʿal zəḇûḇ, “fly-lord, Beelzebub”).

In Canaanite, Baal means “Lord” and zebub being the flies part. Together, it makes Lord Of The Flies which William Golding famously named his book after.
Basically, what this tells us is that Ahaziah was planning on calling the demon of disease (Ba’al-zebûb) to heal him of his disease.
Beelzebub is mentioned in other various texts, one being the testament of Solomon. (We don’t have enough evidence to prove legitimacy of this book) He appears as the prince of demons, And he addresses himself as a formal leader angel bound to the star of venus (evening star).
